A canopy turns the bed into a dry, lockable boot: firearm, gear and carcass stop being visible from outside. But it takes away access from above, and with it the option of winching game aboard with a boom. This is the decision that shapes the vehicle.

The compromise that keeps access from above
A shutter closes the load but rolls onto a drum — so the bed can still be opened from above. There is one price for that: the bed winch has to be the shutter version.

Does a canopy cost much payload?
Steel more, aluminium less, and the difference comes straight out of what you wanted to keep for game.
A Hilux, Ranger or Amarok still copes. A lighter vehicle is worth calculating before ordering — we do that at the quote stage.
